Problem:
Providing parts for use in the food processing industry usually presents a two-fold problem: the parts not only have to withstand extremely tough wear and tear applications, but they also have to meet the high standards set by regulatory bodies such as the FDA and AgriCanada. In the case of one Canadian fabricator, the stainless steel ball valves they were supplying to a food processor were lasting less than a year and the customer was demanding an increased lifespan.
Solution:
In order to ensure the ball valves could withstand the rigors of the application, while also meeting AgriCanada regulations, General Magnaplate coated the parts in MAGNAPLATE HMF - a proprietary, multi-step coating process that creates an extremely hard (up to an equivalent of Rc 68), mirror-smooth (down to 4RMS), highly reflective finish. The ball valves have now been operating continuously for 12 months and the fabricator has yet to hear back from the customer with any failure in the field.
