Problem:
Doctor blades used in the manufacture of plastic sheet were suffering from severe wear and sticking problems in one particular plant.  When the blades were heated, plastic would start to build up and leave rust stains on the film.

Solution:
Upon inspection, the Magnaplate team reported that a coating of Plasmadize would be the best fit for this application.  Plasmadize provides unsurpassed abrasion resistance and can be applied in substantial thicknesses, extending wear life.  In addition, many Plasmadize coatings provide resistance to acids, alkalis, most organic solvents, chlorides, sulfites and thiosulfates, as well as pulp bleaching chemicals.  The result was that Plasmadize completely eliminated both the wear and build-up problems.

Plasmadize is a superior alternative to other common industry coatings such as thermal spray, plasma spray, HVOF, metalizing, twin arc, wire arc, thermal powder deposition.
