Problem: When coatings molds for abrasive dog bones, the manufacturer found that coatings were lasting for only two to three weeks at a time. This manufacturer required a coating that offered better abrasion resistance while providing release properties for the molds. Solution: Magnaplate's technical team coated the molds in PLASMADIZE, a revolutionary, enhanced thermal spray composite coating that features high levels of wear and corrosion resistance, dry-lubricity and mold release not possible with conventional spray methods. Comprised of an infused matrix of metals, ceramics, polymers and/or dry lubricants, it creates a structural integrity and a non-porous, moisture-proof surface. Seven weeks later and the customer has not had to re-coat the molds yet. In addition, the molds are cycling twice as fast. Plasmadize is a superior alternative to other common industry coatings such as thermal spray, plasma spray, HVOF, metalizing, twin arc, wire arc, and thermal powder deposition.
