Problem:
The system both standardizes and automates the labor-intensive process or performing biochemical analysis on biopsies and other types of tissue samples. Aluminum components within the system are constantly being exposed to all types of reagents, both acidic and alkaline, while also being subjected to elevated temperature cycles as high as 100°C. The Company's engineers discovered that the reagents were aggressively attacking and corroding parts such as the unit¹s carousel, the 40 slide platform it rotates and various other aluminum components.

Solution:
MAGNAPLATE HCR was used to enhance the surfaces of the aluminum parts. A 0.002" thick layer of the coating has been proved to show little or no effects of corrosion after 24 months of continuous exposure to the atmosphere and salt water.
