Problem:
A manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment approached Magnaplate because metal rods used in the equipment were causing bushings to wear and squeak.  Magnaplate already plated the slides in the machine, so the technical experts were brought in again to solve the problem.

Solution:
The nylon bushing rubbing against the stainless steel rods was creating marks and flaws, so Magnaplate stripped down the parts and found that the base material had pits and grinding marks from centerless grinding.  The grinding was also having a knock-on effect on the taper in the machine.  The answer was to coat the parts in Magnaplate NEDOX SF-2 because the coating not only creates a harder-than-steel surface, it's also USDA, NSF and FDA compliant.  Magnaplate also worked with the customer to change the supplier of its rods to correct the problems.
