Mirror-smooth coating eliminates static buildup
Magnaplate HMF® is a proprietary, multi-step coating process that produces a mirror-smooth surface with a microfinish as low as 4 Ra. The coating can obtain a hardness of up to 68 Rc and can be applied to ferrous metal, copper or aluminum alloys. The purpose of the coating is to create a microfinish that produces a low coefficient of friction. Magnaplate HMF can operate in a range from as low as -250°F (-157°C) to as high as 950°F (510°C).
Salt spray per ASTM B-117 exceeds 336 hours when thickness of coating is 0.001 inches or greater. Magnaplate HMF provides a level of chloride protection better than chrome plating.
Technical advantages
Magnaplate HMF provides superior properties when compared to other chrome and bright nickel coatings. Magnaplate HMF offers:
- Applicable for most base metals
- Prevention of scratching of films and foils
- Excellent corrosion and moisture resistance
- Temperature range from -250°F (-157°C) up to 950°F (510°C)
- Suggested useful operating range is up to 650°F (343°C)
- Electrically conductive
- COF 0.05 against burnished Hi-T-Lube®
- Good heat transfer
- Resists peeling, chipping or cracking
- Elimination of stick-slip
- Compliance with FDA and USDA codes
- Exceeds 336 hours of salt spray per ASTM B-117
- Reflective chrome-like appearance
- Elimination of stress lines in sensitive plastic film processing
- Effective insurance against galling and seizing
- Excellent bond to parent metal
- Environmentally acceptable, preferred to chrome
- Increased hardness up to 68 Rc
- Chloride protection vastly superior to chrome plating
- Permanent lubricity
- Maximum abrasion resistance
- Mold release
- Will not mar printed surfaces
- No polymer toxicity
